Winter Training Program

Smithsonian Soccer Academy Winter Training Program is designed to train elite soccer players and prepare them for their spring club and high school soccer seasons. Elite soccer players must be trained all year and our program will ensure that players are physically, psychologically, technically, and tactically prepared to excel when they begin their club, ODP, or high school training in the spring. The Smithsonian Soccer Trainers Winter Training Program is closely modeled after the Dutch Academy programs which have produced some of the technically most gifted and tactically most sophisticated soccer players in the world.

You will be trained by very experienced coaches. These coaches all have different perspectives on how to approach training and will share with you their international, intercollegiate, and professional playing experiences. The sessions will be physically intensive (plyometrics, strength, speed, core strength, and agility training), technically demanding, and tactically dynamic. Most of our training will be game related and work on specific soccer problems within a small-sided game format. We expect our winter training to be the most INTENSIVE and DEMANDING training you have ever had and we have designed a curriculum that will really challenge your abilities. If you desire to take your soccer capabilities to the next level, the Smithsonian Soccer Trainers Winter Training Program is designed to get you there.

Summer Training Program

Smithsonian Soccer Academy Summer Training Program is designed to train dedicated soccer players and prepare them for their fall soccer seasons. Great soccer players must be trained all year and our program will ensure that players are physically, psychologically, technically, and tactically prepared to excel when they begin their club training, ODP, or high school seasons. The Smithsonian Soccer Academy Summer Training Program is modeled after successful European academy programs. Specifically, we train players in the same manner that Dutch, German, and Italian players are developed.

We are very excited about our Summer Training Program. We plan to hold 21 sessions from 6:00-7:30 PM (3 times per week for 7 weeks) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at our Brill Field location in Virginia Beach. In addition, we will hold 21 sessions from 6:00-7:30 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings at Norfolk Collegiate’s Lower School in Norfolk. These sessions will be held for seven weeks in June and July and will be completed before August. Participants can attend as many sessions at either location as they would like. Therefore, a very dedicated player could get as many as 42 intense sessions for the low cost of $390. The sessions will be fitness intensive (plyometrics, strength, speed, core strength and agility training), technically demanding, and tactically dynamic. Goalkeeper training will be offered at both locations and teams will be trained together (groups of 10 or more). We expect our Summer Training Program to be the most extensive and demanding training available. If you want to take your game to the next level, this training is designed to get you there. As a matter of fact, our Summer Training Program is the only formal soccer training you will need this summer.

Goalkeeper Training Offered!

Smithsonian Soccer Academy proudly announces that we will be offering extensive goalkeeper training this summer. Our keeper coach will be conducting advanced keeper instruction during our regularly scheduled field player sessions this summer.

We are attempting to get 15-20 keepers, 10 young 10-13 year old keepers and 5-10 more experienced goalkeepers. We plan to run two 50 minute sessions, one for the advanced older keepers and one for the young keepers, and then let the keepers play in our small sided games or receive technical field player training for the other 50 minutes of the session. Each keeper session (21 total sessions) will include a great keeper warm-up, goalkeeper specific fitness, advanced handling technical training, and tactical instruction with large numbers of repetitions. Our field training sessions will be going on simultaneously and we will integrate the keepers into approximately 50 minutes of small sided games and technical training.

This will be the most advanced and reasonably priced keeper training available. We plan to make our keeper training program as successful as our field player program. If you know any keepers willing to train hard, absorb all the nuances of playing keeper, and desire to take their keeper skills to the next level, please pass this information to them. As always, we plan to make our keeper training a very comprehensive program that will satisfy all your keeper training needs.
